Your play, your choice.
This page describes data used by the Net & Hook web, iOS and Android game. For privacy questions, contact team@ddtechsolution.com.
Saved on your device
Your fishery, inventory, upgrades, orders, smokehouse batches and settings are stored in this browser’s local storage, with a backup save. Native apps also keep a local copy in app preferences. Local saves do not follow you to another device unless you use the optional cloud profile below. “Start a new fishery” replaces your game progress. Clearing site data removes your local saves and preferences.
Optional cloud profile and recovery
In Settings, you can create a cloud profile without giving us your name, email or password. The server creates a random player ID and recovery key. Only a hash of that key is stored on the server; the key is kept in this browser’s local storage or the native app’s private preferences. Anyone with your key can access or delete your cloud save. Keep it private. We cannot recover a lost key for you.
Tapping “Save this device’s progress” uploads your game state, including cash, inventory, upgrades, mission progress and play checkpoints, to our dedicated database hosted by Hetzner in Europe. Uploads are manual. We store one current save with a version number and timestamp. This is separate from the leaderboard. We do not use cloud saves for advertising.
Settings → Cloud save → Delete cloud profile removes the cloud profile, recovery-key hash and save from the active database immediately. Restricted server backups expire within 15 days. Your local game and optional leaderboard profile are separate and stay until you remove them. IP addresses are used transiently for connection handling and rate limiting; the cloud API does not write request bodies or recovery keys to logs.
Optional leaderboard
Joining sends a captain name from our curated list, your current catch count and a randomly generated scoring-run identifier to our server. New catches after joining increase your public all-time and weekly scores. Weeks reset Monday at 00:00 UTC; catches count in the week the server accepts them. Weekly history is kept for up to 12 weeks and cleaned when scores update. Your name, score and rank are public. Names are not unique.
An essential, first-party cookie identifies your leaderboard profile. It expires after one year unless renewed; the server stores a hash of its secret token. We also store your score, scoring-run identifier, catch count and timing information to prevent duplicate or implausibly fast score updates. Your saved cash and inventory are not uploaded.
Open Ranks, choose “Delete my leaderboard profile” and confirm to remove the profile and its all-time and weekly scores from our active database and clear its cookie. Your local fishery stays intact. Deletion is permanent. Profiles otherwise remain until deleted; clearing the cookie alone does not remove the public score. Contact support if you have lost access to a profile.
Anonymous play counts
We count play sessions to understand how many people are playing. After you interact, the game sends a random session identifier and start, activity and pause events. We do not link these events to leaderboard profiles, ask for your real name, or use advertising cookies. Counts are sessions, not verified unique people.
Turn “Anonymous play counts” off in Settings to stop sending these events. We also respect supported Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Recent session records are cleared after roughly 48 hours during periodic cleanup; daily totals are kept for up to 180 days and the overall aggregate count is retained. Aggregate counts cannot identify or isolate a particular player.
Hosting and support
The game and its first-party services are hosted on a server at Hetzner. Network providers and hosting infrastructure process connection information, including IP addresses, to deliver the game and protect the service. The game’s event collector does not log request bodies or visitor addresses. There are no advertising SDKs or cross-site tracking services in this build.
If you email support, your email address and message are used to respond. Please do not include passwords or payment details. You may ask us about access, correction or deletion of information associated with your request.
Changes
If the game adds accounts, purchases, advertising or other data collection, this page will be updated before those features are released.
